Employees take to the scales for Weight Watchers health programme
5.9.2008
Weight Watchers is offering UK employees the chance to shed the pounds with a new workplace health programme.
Benefits employees will receive include help in maintaining weight loss, weekly weigh-ins and advice meetings.
It seems the success of the programme has spread to the board room, as senior vice president of the company Mads Ryder himself lost 26 pounds by taking part last year.
Highlighting the benefits of the scheme, he said: "For employers it will help cut healthcare costs and cut down on the number of days staff are off sick and I don't think employees will have a problem with taking part."
Another feature of the programme is the assurance of confidentiality, meaning employees' weights will be kept secret.
Workplace health is a valued asset it has been suggested, as a recent study by healthcare providers Bupa found that over half of UK workers want their firms to implement greater wellbeing measures.
