A new survey has found employees working for smaller companies are happier in their roles.

The poll, undertaken for the Trades Union Congress (TUC), questioned 2,500 employees and found that those working for smaller firms are more likely to be satisfied and loyal than those from larger organisations.

Moreover, workers from small businesses were found to be the most committed to their jobs, reported politics.co.uk.

John Wright, chairman of the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), said that the FSB was "really pleased" by the results of the TUC poll.

"By having a committed and loyal work force that has a say in how the organisation is run, the smallest business has a bigger advantage," Mr Wright added.

Employees working for smaller organisations are more likely to turn off computers, recycle and be greener than workers at bigger firms, according to recent research by energy company E.ON.
